I am sure there is no science behind it and that it is all just perception, but some days, everything just comes together.

Last week while floundering about trying to construct a whitepaper for the upcoming Compuware Partner Summit, I was dumb struck by the sudden progress made across the board by our team:

  • Steve had been working away on fixing some of the bugs within Version 1.1 of TeamGuide when he called me over to demonstrate the new ‘add custom template’ functionality.  I was stunned – this functionality goes a long way to solving (providing a great work around) to the challenge of ‘how do I customise my roadmap’ as the most common customisation request we encounter is the need to provide localised templates that are customised to the specific organisation.  This simple but elegant solution is brilliant!

  • Scott, working with Alex, had developed a prototype of our ‘next generation’ platform for our main product Process MeNtOR.  This platform will be a server-based version of Process MeNtOR that enables what I term ‘localisation’, ‘customisation’ and ‘personalisation’.  The prototype is in our early days and is leveraging the Alfresco open source content management system – but I was struck by the clean and simple design that provides a highly useable solution to a complex problem – process definition.

  • To cap it off, Stephan really fired my imagination by describing how we could leverage our current work with the TeamGuide integration into Visual Studio / Team Foundation Server into Compuware’s Changepoint platform.  And right there was the idea I needed for the whitepaper.

Some days, it seems to just all come together.

Cheers,

Carl
